Nancy
Worth was born in the Midwest and attended
Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
In 1991 she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado
where she still lives and has her studio.
She has taught drawing and painting at both
the high school and adult levels, and has
served as artist-in-residence at Rocky Mountain
National Park, where she continues to lead
an annual workshop. For many years she focused
on transparent watercolor, and has recently
resumed working in oil on canvas.
The inspiration for Nancy’s work is
her daily experience and surroundings: “My
hope is to capture a moment, a memory of
things we see but perhaps fail to notice
the simple beauty they radiate. I hope to
create a sense of the universal in the painting
so that there is a connection to every viewer
and an invitation to enter. My desire is
that the work is livable, something that
can be experienced and enjoyed every time
you look.”
Worth’s works are in many private
collections, including the National Park
Foundation in Washington D.C., the Governor’s
Mansion in Austin, Texas, and Rocky Mountain
National Park Headquarters in Estes Park,
Colorado. She has received several awards,
including the Marble Medal from the American
Watercolor Society, a bronze medallion at
the Arts for the Parks National Exhibition,
and the Irving Shapiro Memorial Watercolor
Award from the Northern Colorado Art Association.
